Retail Operations Manager

We are seeking a committed and skilled Retail Operations Manager to lead our retail and warehouse teams and support our mission of service excellence.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the owner, the Retail Operations Manager oversees daily store operations, staff leadership, merchandising execution, customer experience, HR support functions, and procurement for select categories. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Operations & Leadership

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop retail and warehouse employees
  • Lead, coach, and motivate staff to meet sales, service, and performance targets
  • Maintain a strong on-floor leadership presence
  • Build and manage staff schedules (days, evenings, weekends, holidays)
  • Oversee merchandising standards, product placement, signage, and supplier activations
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, company policies, loss prevention, and health & safety procedures
  • Develop and maintain inventory control and accuracy
  • Resolve customer issues and ensure high service standards
  • Work collaboratively with procurement teams on execution of retail strategy
  • Identify key sales-driving opportunities associated with events, concerts, holidays, and other potential promotions

Procurement & Inventory Management

  • Manage purchasing for assigned categories, focusing on sales, margin, and inventory goals
  • Maintain supply continuity and proactively manage risk
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors
  • Oversee deliveries and resolve logistics challenges
  • Identify improvements to procurement processes and efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in retail operations management and team leadership
  • 5+ years experience in merchandising, procurement, inventory, or supply chain
  • Experience with retail POS or technology systems
  • Supplier relationship or contract negotiation experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Valid police clearance

  • Experience in duty-free or travel-retail environments
  • Familiarity with cross-border operations
  • Proficiency with merchandising systems and POS tools
  • Strong analytical and HR administration background
  • Duty free and travel-retail product and inventory knowledge
  • Experience with warehouse operations
  • Familiarity with loss prevention or security systems
  • Bilingual (English/French)
